Laurel Cottage is run by us, Adam & Yvonne. This is the short version of how we look after your details.
What we collect
When you get in touch or book, we have your name, email address, your dates, how many guests and dogs are coming, and anything else you choose to tell us. When you book online, we also ask for your phone number and home address. If you pay, Stripe handles your card details. We never see your full card number.
Why
To reply to your enquiry, run your booking and stay, take payment, refund any deposit, and keep the records we're required to keep for tax. We don't use your details for marketing and we never sell or share them, apart from with the services below.
Who else handles it
- Stripe processes card payments for us (the account is in Yvonne's name). See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Google (Gmail and Google Calendar) is where our emails and booking calendar live.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and our online booking system, which stores your booking details.
How long we keep it
We keep booking and payment records for 6 years, because that's what the tax rules require, and then delete them. If an enquiry doesn't turn into a booking and you'd like it deleted, just ask.
This website
No cookies. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookie-free, privacy-friendly visit counter: it counts page views without cookies or any personal identifiers and doesn't follow you around the web. The enquiry form sends your message securely to our own email inbox (through Cloudflare), so we can reply to you by email. The booking page sends your details securely to our booking system so we can hold your dates and confirm your stay, and you pay on Stripe's own checkout page.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the details we hold about you. Contact us using the enquiry form on our website. If you're not happy with how we've handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Counting visits
We count visits to this site with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and doesn't identify you. To see which pages lead to bookings, the site also keeps a note of the link you arrived from in your browser's sessionStorage, which is cleared when you close the tab, and sends anonymous step counts (for example "viewed the booking page") that are only ever added up by day. We never record your IP address or build a profile of you. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we don't count you at all. Don't count my visit (this stores a single opt-out flag in your browser).
